At St. Michael’s, we recognize that parents are the primary teachers of their children. We are fortunate that so many parents have entrusted us to be their partners in this teaching journey. We appreciate and respect the sacred trust that they have bestowed upon us, as we seek to honor our mission to prepare the whole student for leadership, service and decision-making that is consistent with Catholic values.
The 2009-10 academic year is a milestone one for our school community. We are celebrating our 25th anniversary as “A Catholic High School for Austin, Inc.” (the corporate name for SMCA). This is a special opportunity for our school family to reflect back with admiration and appreciation for the visionary founders of our school and for the many benefactors and families who have sustained us through our first 25 years. May God bless them always!
Recently, we have opened the new 24,600 square-foot Campus Center. The centerpiece of this building is The Gloria Delgado Performing Arts Theatre, a state-of-the-art performance venue with seating for 359. The Campus Center also provides six classrooms dedicated to the visual and performing arts, as well as a collegiate-style dining hall with seating for 360. The Charles Wade Plaza provides an inviting entry to the new facility, as well as an outdoor gathering space with amphitheater seating.
This year also marks 25 years of 25 State Championships. Several improvements have also been made to our athletic facilities to continue fostering athletic achievement. Major renovations to our baseball field were made. The addition of The Seeker Track to our campus has contributed to the success Track & Cross Country teams which resulted in State Championships in 2009. New goal posts and a new scoreboard were recently installed as well.
